The next phase of Merton Giving’s funding will be open for applications today, Monday 21st June with the launch of two funds; the Merton Giving Renewal Fund and The Merton Giving Pandemic Community Outreach Fund.
Thanks to National Lottery players, The National Lottery Community Fund has awarded £150,000 to Merton Giving, which will be used as grant funding to support charitable organisations through the pandemic crisis as they renew their operations to help our local communities to further realise equality, diversity and inclusion.
Merton Connected, key partner of Merton Giving, is one of a number of local organisations being funded as part of this initiative. The move is part of the National Lottery Community Fund’s COVID-19 emergency response and it means it will benefit from the local knowledge and expertise of these local groups to ensure funding is distributed to even more communities most vulnerable to the impact of COVID-19.
The Merton Giving Renewal Fund will have a guaranteed amount of a further £130,000 of donations received from our generous donors including the London Borough of Merton, Clarion Futures, Wimbledon Foundation and the Moat Foundation as well as numerous individual donations and fundraisers.
The Merton Giving Pandemic Community Outreach Fund is focused on improving local engagement around health promotion including testing and vaccine confidence and convenience amongst key communities as well as combatting complacency.
Details of both Funds, including guidance, criteria and timing are available on Merton Giving’s new website www.mertongiving.co.uk
As with previous Merton Giving Funds, the funding team is working to make decisions and allocate funding as quickly as possible.
Diana Sterck, CEO of Merton Chamber of Commerce and Chair of Merton Giving commented: “This new phase of funding will support charitable organisations on their path to recovery, sustainability and renewal, whilst continuing our commitment to support those striving to meet the immediate needs of residents most affected by the pandemic. We’re delighted that the new Merton Giving website will provide a simple gateway for organisations looking to apply for this funding and for residents and businesses wanting to make a donation and give to their local communities in other ways.”
Merton Giving is a charitable partnership between Merton Chamber of Commerce and Merton Connected, the trading name of MVSC. Launched in 2018 to provide a focal point for local giving Merton Giving encourages people and businesses to give money, time or in-kind support. Since April 2020, Merton Giving has allocated two rounds of grant funding distributing over £338,000 through 106 grants to charitable organisations working locally in Merton.

About The National Lottery Community Fund
We are the largest funder of community activity in the UK – we’re proud to award money raised by National Lottery players to communities across England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. Since June 2004, we have made over 200,000 grants and awarded over £9 billion to projects that have benefited millions of people.
We are passionate about funding great ideas that matter to communities and make a difference to people’s lives. At the heart of everything we do is the belief that when people are in the lead, communities thrive. Thanks to the support of National Lottery players, our funding is open to everyone. We’re privileged to be able to work with the smallest of local groups right up to UK-wide charities, enabling people and communities to bring their ambitions to life.
